“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller
Learners of grade 5 were invited to attend a special reading session by author Mrs Lakshmi Iyer, on Tuesday, 11th August. The virtual session was conducted on the zoom platform and was well received by all the students, as the importance of reading regularly was highlighted.
Mrs. Lakshmi Iyer, a former banking professional took up writing after moving to New York in 2001. She has authored many books, blogs and recently published her book “Why is My Hair Curly?”
The interactive session started off with Mrs Iyer reading an extract from her book followed by a narration of her childhood which transcriptedas her character in the story. The author shared her journey of writing with the learners, and explained how shedevoured books, as she considered every book to be a portal to a world that she hadn’t explored before.
Our young aspiring learners were encouraged to read avidly. More serious topics such as adoptionwas also dwelled upon, with a light-hearted flair during the session. The reading program concluded with relevant questions from the learners and it was indeed an inspiring session for all.
On the whole, the interaction was extremely delightful and the message of having the courage to be yourself, was well communicated.
